When can a tree be felled?
We are able to fell trees in areas where we are able to control the direction of the tree’s path, where there is clear, open space. Where there is not the required clear space, dismantling the tree can be an alternative option.
Can a tree be felled if it has a tree preservation order (TPO)?
If a tree has a TPO, it cannot be felled without written permission from your local council.
If a tree with a TPO is felled without permission, you could be fined or even prosecuted. These penalties can be severe so it’s important to ensure you seek professional advice and ensure you are following the law.
